What is ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ Finalist Steve Royle Up to Now?

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Britain’s Got Talents Steve Royle was a notable finalist in Season 14 of the show. At the time of his audition, he had been performing for 30 years as a comedian and juggler. He also performed previously as a warm up on the Royal Variety Performance. Interestingly enough, that venue is the placeholder for all Britain’s Got Talent winners. Though Steve didn’t quite take home the win, he remains a successful comedian. He is a member of the Gag Reflex comedy group and continues to headline his own variety shows.

Steve Royle on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’

Steve had a good run on the British talent show. At age 51, he took the BGT stage and auditioned with a hilarious variety act. He began with traditional club juggling, before throwing them off stage, and quickly transitioned into balloon animals. When the judge’s request for an elephant was seemingly “too difficult” he decided to go with an easier route, mind reading.

From there, Steve showed off a bit of musical talent, ending his act by juggling three acoustic guitars. The judges praised him with a standing ovation and sent him on to the next round. His talent and infectious comedy landed him in third place at the end of the competition.

In Steve’s final performance, he began by hooking and unhooking a red velvet rope as if he was a bouncer at a club. The music stopped and started with each of his movements. He had the audience and judges cracking up at his series of skits. He ended his performance with a synchronized swimming bit that featured his family. It was very funny and heartwarming all at the same time. Unfortunately, Steve didn’t secure the win in the end, but his accomplishments have extended far beyond the BGT stage.

The Gag Reflex Comedy Group

The beloved variety star is quite active on social media and shares many career moments with his fans. In his biography, he links the page to the Gag Reflex, the comedy group he is associated with. The Gag Reflex is dedicated to developing the comic and variety talent in the industry. Their client list features performers that work all across the U.K.

Steve is also a headline act at The Comedy Store in London and Manchester, as well as a regular performer on the U.K.’s huge comedy circuit. The comic is also the co-founder of “Slaughterhouse Live,” the greatly successful character comedy shows.

Recently, the comic advertised that he would be back on the BGT stage with the Steve Royle variety show.

“Tonight’s the night! Back on the @bgt stage @The_Lowry Salford with my first ever Steve Royle Variety Performance,” he shared with fans on instagram announcing the 2021 U.K. tour.

Steve has been and still is killing it in the comedy game. His time on Britain’s Got Talent showed the world just how talented he is and what he offers to the industry. I predict that his variety shows will only continue to gain mass popularity both within, and outside the U.K. I feel it will only be a matter of time before his fame rises across the pond.
