Top 10 Blake Shelton Moments, On The Voice And BeyondNBC

Reading Time: 4 minutes

Blake Shelton has been a coach on The Voice since its very first season, and he’s had quite a run over the years. Let’s take a look back at his ten best moments, both on The Voice and throughout his career and personal life.

Blake Shelton Releases His First Single ‘Austin’

In 2001, Blake Shelton broke onto the country scene with his first single “Austin.” It was part of his self-titled debut album, and the video featured a 25-year-old Blake in long hair and a cowboy hat — a look we’re not used to him sporting anymore.

Blake Joins ‘The Voice’ Season 1

Blake was one of the original four coaches on NBC’s The Voice in 2011. He’s the only coach who has appeared in all 18 seasons of the show, and he’ll be returning for Season 19 later this year.

Blake Wins ‘The Voice’ Three Seasons in a Row

Blake often brags about how many seasons of The Voice he has won when trying to get contestants to join his team. Blake has won seven times, which is more than any other coach. His first win was in Season 2, with Jermaine Paul. He also won in Season 3 with Cassadee Pope, and Season 4 with Danielle Bradbery, giving him the longest winning streak of any coach.

Blake’s Bromance With Adam Levine

Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine joined The Voice with Blake in Season 1. As the other chairs were occupied with different stars, they remained constant for 16 seasons. Over the years, the pair developed a bromance and friendly rivalry. Adam has called Blake his “brother for life.” When Adam quit last year, Blake said he was “upset” over his decision.

Blake Starts Dating Gwen Stefani

Blake and Gwen met as coaches on The Voice Season 7 in 2014. The next year, after separating from their spouses Miranda Lambert and Gavin Rossdale, the pair announced they were dating. They’ve since recorded duets, bought a house, and appeared on three more seasons together. The two married in an intimate ceremony in 2021, and none other than Carson Daly officiated the marriage.

Blake Is Named ‘Sexiest Man Alive’

In 2017, Blake Shelton became the second musician to be named “Sexiest Man Alive” by People magazine, after his fellow Voice coach Adam Levine. Upon learning of the honor, Blake joked that “y’all must be running out of people.” He also said he couldn’t wait to “shove this up Adam’s ass.” In 2019, Blake passed the torch to another Voice coach, John Legend.

Blake’s ‘The Voice’ Rivalry With Kelly Clarkson

Fans who were worried about losing Blake and Adam’s friendly rivalry had their minds eased when it was replaced by his rivalry with coach Kelly Clarkson. Kelly has described him as her “big brother.” They love to bicker and compete, but at the end of the day they’re supportive of each other.

Blake’s Manure Cologne Commercial

We love Blake’s sense of humor, and never has it been on display more than in the fake cologne ad he made for The Voice last year. It was called Manure, and was meant to capture “the scent of the open range.” We’re glad it’s not a real fragrance, although we don’t doubt it would sell quite a few bottles regardless of the inspiration.

Blake Wins ‘The Voice’ Season 18

Earlier this year, Blake’s artist Todd Tilghman won Season 18 of The Voice. This was a big moment for the coach, who hadn’t won since Season 13, with Chloe Kohanski. The fact that he won with a country artist made it even more special. We’re sure he’ll use his most recent win as a way to gain artists on next season’s show.

Blake Donates To COVID-19 Relief

Blake showed his generosity earlier this year when he donated $150,000 to the “Give from Home Day” fundraiser in partnership with the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma to provide relief to those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic in his home state. “A lot of Oklahomans are going to bed hungry tonight,” he said. “That’s not something I can live with.”
