‘The Masked Singer’ Crowns Season 5 Winner

The Masked Singer has finally crowned a new winner! The show opened up with a group performance of “How Do I Live” with the remaining contestants and last season’s winner LeAnn Rimes. The Chameleon, The Black Swan, and The Piglet all sang their hearts out one last time before they were all unmasked.
‘The Masked Singer’ Crowns Most Unexpected Winner Yet in Season 5
It’s genuinely hard to correctly predict the winner on some seasons of The Masked Singer. Last season it was obvious that Rimes would walk away with the title as The Sun. This season, all of the frontrunners went home way too early. After The Russian Dolls and The Robopine were eliminated it became anyone’s game.
The Piglet was shockingly announced as the winner of Season 5 of The Masked Singer tonight. Did anyone see this coming? He has committed to emotional performances all season long but has not necessarily been one of the frontrunners right from the start. Tonight, the Piglet’s performance brought Ken Jeong to tears.
The Piglet was unmasked and revealed to be Nick Lachey. Most boy band fans were able to detect Lachey’s tone from the very beginning. Jenny McCarthy was one of those people because her first impression guess turned out to be true. McCarthy is once again the recipient of this year’s Golden Ear trophy after leading the pack with three correct first impression guesses. It’s crazy to think this is true after the slew of bad guesses she has had all season long.
Was The Black Swan Robbed?
Heading into the finale, most of the comments on The Masked Singer Instagram and YouTube accounts were rooting for The Black Swan to win. It was a bit of a shock that she was announced as the second-place finisher instead of the winner. Week after week the judges complimented how consistent her vocals are and just how much confidence she has up on that stage.
After a slew of ridiculous guesses, Nicole Scherzinger correctly guessed that The Black Swan was JoJo. JoJo looked gorgeous when she was unmasked and is literally the only person who can wear that costume and not look like a sweaty mess. She decided to do the show after her tour was canceled last year due to the pandemic. She didn’t just sing on The Masked Singer, she performed. Her heart and soul were put into each and every performance and some would probably agree that she was totally robbed tonight.
The Chameleon is the Coolest Character in ‘The Masked Singer’ History
The Chameleon put on the best performance of the night with “Gangsta’s Paradise” by Coolio. The judges freaked out once they heard he was going to be rapping this song. Nick Cannon even agreed that he is the coolest character the show has ever had. It came as a bit of a shock when he earned third place in the competition after really shining the past few weeks.
The judge’s first impression guesses were honestly horrible. McCarthy guessed that Oscar winner Denzel Washington was underneath the rapping lizard mask. What was going through her mind? Robin Thicke pretty much knew it was Wiz Khalifa the whole time but tossed in some random guesses during the first few weeks. The funniest moment of the night is probably when Scherzinger’s first impression guess was revealed to be Nick Cannon.
Cannon came onto the show as the wildcard after recovering from COVID-19. This obviously proved her first impression guess for The Chameleon so wrong. Rapper Wiz Khalifa was underneath the mask and it was a bit disappointing to see him leave without a trophy.
