Simon Cowell is working hard to get his new show Walk the Line on the air. Cowell was reportedly rushing to get the ball rolling on the ITV series set to debut later this year. No exact date has been announced yet, but it has been confirmed that Maya Jama will host.

Walk the Line is a six-part game show where musicians will perform in front of an expert panel of judges. The top two performers will choose to go home with a cash prize or “walk the line” to go further in the competition. Whichever contestants top the leaderboard for the longest time can potentially bring in some big bucks.

Fans of the U.K. version of The Circle might recognize Maya as the host of the very first season. She is absolutely stunning and a great choice to front Walk the Line. The 27-year-old shared her excitement about her new hosting gig in the form of a selfie with Cowell.

“From watching talent shows made by this man growing up to hosting one myself on big bloody ITV is honestly a dream,” she captioned the post. “I don’t wana get all deep on here but the journey has been a mad one & I am so so grateful for the opportunity and excited for this next chapter.”

Who is ‘Walk The Line’ Host Maya Jama?

Maya’s had a career full of major hosting opportunities on big networks. She began pursuing an entertainment career in London as a teenager. Maya got her start hosting music video countdowns on JumpOff TV. She gained more notoriety hosting a travelogue called Maya’s FIFA World Cup Cities for Copa90 in 2014.

This led Maya towards an opportunity to work with MTV as the host of The Wrap Up. Eventually, she became a favorite on the network hosting segments for MTV News. She and Love Island’s Dani Dyer hosted the relationship reality series True Love or True Lies in 2018.

Maya, who is currently dated NBA star Ben Simmons, is no stranger to hosting shows on ITV. She hosted the 2017 Pre-Brit Awards Party along with the Saturday night game show Cannonball. Maya also served as a guest panelist on ITV’s Loose Women. She recently made her acting debut in the Netflix series The Duchess.

Maya has become a familiar face on BBC too. She hosted BBC One’s The Big New Year’s In last year. For two years, Maya hosted her own show, Maya Jama, on BBC Radio 1. She has been a part of quite a few talent competitions which will come in handy on Walk the Line. Maya became the new host of Glow Up: Britain’s Next Make-Up Star and served as a guest judge on Season 2 of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK.

“If someone said to me, describe your dream job, it would be this!” Maya said in a Walk the Line press release. “I literally couldn’t be more excited to be working with Syco, Lifted Entertainment, and the incredible team at ITV on Walk The Line.”
