Only one word comes to mind when thinking about the new Paramount+ special, Dragging the Classics: The Brady Bunch: wigs! RuPaul’s Drag Race stars teamed up with some of the original Brady Bunch cast to recreate an episode together.

‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Teams Up with ‘The Brady Bunch’ Cast for Special Crossover Episode on Paramount+

Season two of The Brady Bunch is best remembered for the iconic episode, “Will the Real Jan Brady Please Stand Up?” which aired in 1971. Jan Brady buys a black curly wig so that she can stand out from the rest of her family. She gets absolutely roasted by her brothers. Surprisingly, the episode draws comparisons to the way some of the queens are read for their looks on the RuPaul’s Drag Race main stage. It’s more than fitting that the stars of the show are recreating this episode.

RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 6 star Kylie Sonique Love plays the role of Jan in Dragging the Classics: The Brady Bunch. RuPaul actually had roles in The Brady Bunch Movie in 1995 and A Very Brady Sequel in 1996. She plays the role of the wig store clerk in this new special. Season 13’s Kandy Muse plays Cindy and Season 6 winner Bianca Del Rio portrays Carol.

Drag Race Stars Bring Iconic Brady Bunch characters to Life

Shea Coulee takes on the role of Marcia in the episode. Miss Congeniality of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 11, Nina West, plays the role of Alice. BenDeLaCreme, Miss Congeniality of Season 6, stars as Greg. Even though The Brady Bunch went off the air in 1974, it’s actually the source of one of the internet’s biggest memes. Scrolling through Twitter without seeing the “Sure Jan” meme is nearly impossible. Jan is a character that many people can relate to.

“We love Jan. Jan is an icon,” RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 5 winner Shea said. “That’s something a lot of people in the community can identify with: feeling like they’re an other or an outsider, and just wanting to find a way to express themselves authentically.”

Barry Williams, Eve Plumb, Mike Lookinland, Christopher Knight, and Susan Olsen from the original Brady Bunch cast also took part in this extravaganza. Original cast member Maureen McCormick did not join the rest of the cast for this special. Special technology was even used to transport the actors into the authentic Brady house for the episode streaming right now.
