Katy Perry has given the KatyCats the best surprise ever heading into the weekend. Her long-awaited collaboration with Pokémon has finally been released and it is purely epic! The music video for the song “Electric” celebrates Pokémon‘s 25th anniversary.

Katy Perry is ‘Electric’ in New Pokémon Music Video

Perry’s co-star in the music video is Pikachu. She follows the Pokémon around and also reminisces about when she was younger. Fans see a younger version of Perry playing her guitar and struggling as a musician. Pikachu was just a Pichu at the time because he had not evolved yet. This is a metaphor for growing up and looking back on everything you have accomplished in your life.

The present-day version of Perry helps her younger self become a successful musician. She looks beautiful in the music video sporting long blond hair and a series of boho-style dresses. This collaboration means a lot to the American Idol judge.

“Pokémon has been a constant in my life from playing the original video games on my Game Boy to trading Pokémon TCG cards at lunch, to the adventures of catching Pokémon on the street with Pokémon GO,” she said in a statement.

Perry has everyone feeling nostalgic with this music video release. The KatyCats have long been awaiting this music video when they got “KATY PERRY IS COMING” trending on Twitter a month ago. Now, fans are elated to see the song is finally out and showcases Perry’s fun and vibrant personality.

“It is an honor to be chosen to help celebrate a franchise that has given me so much joy in the last 25 years, and to be able to watch it evolve in the ways it’s provided that kind of electric joy for the kids in my life and around the world,” she added.

Currently, “Electric” sits at No.8 on the iTunes Top 10 Song Charts in the United States. Judging on how much the KatyCats love the song and think it is underrated, expect it’s chart position to rise over the weekend.
