Katy Perry and John Legend teamed up for the talent show crossover of our dreams over the weekend. The singers — who judge on American Idol and The Voice, respectively — performed a duet together at a UNICEF charity event.

Perry and Legend were dressed to the nines as they sang “Moon River” on stage at the LuisaViaRoma for UNICEF gala in Capri, Italy. Legend accompanied them on the piano for the lovely performance.

The singers performed separate sets during the event, but they also teamed up for a special duet. Perry wore a gold Dolce & Gabbana dress for the occasion, while Legend looked suave in a white shirt and black bowtie.

“Everyone is enjoying being fancy tonight but it’s so important the work UNICEF is doing to make the world better,” Legend, who was accompanied at the event by his wife Chrissy Teigen, told People. Perry attended with her fiancé Orlando Bloom.

In a video from the gala, Perry and Legend embrace before their performance. Perry explains that they chose to sing “Moon River” as a tribute to late actress Audrey Hepburn, who was a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. Hepburn performed the song in the 1961 movie Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

Have These Singers Ever Performed Together?

As far as we can tell, Perry and Legend have never performed a duet together before this gala. However, they did both perform separately to celebrate President Joe Biden’s inauguration earlier this year. Perry sang “Firework,” while Legend performed “Feeling Good.”

People reports that this weekend’s UNICEF event featured an auction that included the Yamaha grand piano that Legend played during his performance that evening. The gala reportedly raised more than €5 million for UNICEF, which provides aid to children around the world.

Legend will be returning as a coach on Season 21 of The Voice, premiering September 20 on NBC. Meanwhile, American Idol has been renewed for Season 20, although Perry’s presence on the judging panel has yet to be officially confirmed.
