Country singer Lauren Alaina is proving once again that she is a triple threat. The Season 10 American Idol runner-up is starring in the romantic Hallmark comedy Roadhouse Romance. The film is part of the 2021 Fall Harvest lineup. It will mark Lauren’s Hallmark network debut alongside heartthrob Tyler Hynes.

Lauren Alaina Announces First-Ever Hallmark Movie Coming This Fall

In the movie, Lauren will play the role of Lieutenant Callie Jackson who is returning home from a military tour. Meanwhile, her grandfather’s barbecue joint is going under and she tries to pick up the pieces. Tyler plays a TV director who comes to town and shows her how to move forward. Lauren starred in her first movie in 2017 called Road Less Traveled, a romantic comedy about a woman who is searching for the perfect wedding dress.

She will be performing “Run” and “What Do You Think Of” in the film along with a cover of Keith Whitley’s “When You Say Nothing At All.” This song holds a special place in her heart because it was the first song she performed at Tootsies in Nashville when she was just 12 years old. Lauren also performed the song with American Idol winner Scotty McCreery on tour.

Roadhouse Romance will air on Hallmark on September 11 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Based on the social media posts that Lauren made, she hinted that dancing will be involved in the movie. She competed on Season 28 of Dancing with the Stars and proved to be a total master of the ballroom. The 26-year-old placed fourth with partner Gleb Savchenko, even getting a perfect score for her freestyle dance.

Lauren is Also Looking Forward to Releasing Her Third Album

After battling Covid-19 this year, Lauren revealed to fans that she had been working on her third album. Her debut album Wildflower was released in 2011 and she burst back onto the scene in 2017 with Road Less Traveled. This led to her winning New Female Vocalist of the Year at the 2018 ACM Awards along with a CMT Award with American Idol reject turned megastar, Kane Brown.

Since then, Lauren has released two EPs, Getting Good and Getting Over Him, and went through a breakup. At the 2021 CMT Music Awards, Lauren put on an unforgettable performance of “Getting Over Him” with Jon Pardi. She stole the show with her authentic country sound that fans are still in love with 10 years after her American Idol debut.
