Emily Piriz Had Coaches Fighting For Her On ‘La Voz’

Emily’s vocals on La Voz were perfect during this high pitched song that flooded the airwaves the second it came out. Coaches Luis Fonsi, Carlos Vives and Wisin all turned their chairs after hearing Emily sing the first few lines of the song. Finally, coach Alejandra Guzmán completed the four-chair turn towards the end of the song.

“Thanks for coming and showing your talent,” Wisin said. Alejandra encouraged Emily to join her team to show “woman power.” Vives said that while all of the singers with her vocal style usually come and have their eye on being coached by Luis, Emily should choose him because he will make her “a queen.”

Luis said that he bets none of his colleagues could guess that Demi sings that song. He complimented Emily’s style and voice. “I do not speak English and I fell in love and I didn’t understand so much but I loved it” Vives fired back.

Wisin gave Emily a headband made of flowers to try and convince her to be on his team. But, ultimately, she chose to be on Team Fonsi. Emily made it all the way to the finals where it was Sammy Colón from Team Vives that took home the top prize. Still, she established herself as an amazing performer week after week.

Where Is She Now?

La Voz just finished wrapping up filming on August 16, 2020. Contestants actually had to wear face masks as the coronavirus pandemic has swept across the world. Emily recently commemorated her experience on Instagram. “What an amazing experience! I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to be on La Voz” she wrote. “I have grown a lot during this process and have made incredible connections. I am excited to continue working on my music and share it with all of you at home. Thank you for all your support! I love you guys.”

She posed with her coach Luis and wrote “Thanks to my coach for all your advice and support.”

You also might recognize Emily from when she competed on season 13 of American Idol in 2014. She made it to the top 12 and released her debut single called “One of Those Nights” after being eliminated. She also auditioned for the first season of The X Factor. Emily most recently released a cover of  “Like to Be You” by Shawn Mendes and Julia Michaels.
