Carrie Underwood Teams Up with Jason Aldean for Heartbreaking New Love Song
Carrie Underwood just solidified herself as one of the top contenders for sweeping every single upcoming awards show. The American Idol winner just teamed up with Jason Aldean for their new duet “If I Didn’t Love You.” Their voices blend together perfectly in what we’re sure is the perfect anthem as summer winds down.
Carrie Underwood’s New Duet with Jason Aldean is the Song of the Summer
The lyrics of the song are soul-crushing to some people. It delves deep into the feelings you get after ending things with someone. The lyrics, “If I Didn’t Love You I’d be good by now/I’d be better than barely getting by somehow,” really did hit home for some of Underwood’s biggest fans. They shared their own relationship rough patches in the comments section and how they overcame them.
Underwood and Aldean’s voices mesh together perfectly. The transition into their harmonies is so smooth and seamless throughout the entire song. Underwood’s voice is piercing in the best way possible. The 38-year-old is having a pretty busy year with all of her latest musical releases. She is slated to perform at CMA Summer Jam next week. She also just took home the Video of the Year Award for her song “Hallelujah” with John Legend at the 2021 CMT Music Awards.
“I think we can all agree more than never Carrie Deserves to be named entertainer of the year at the CMAs how many duets? Spanish, rock, Christmas, gospel, vegas residency, hbo max, i mean what else?” one person asked in the comments section.
Underwood and Aldean Could Find Award Show Success with This Song
Aldean drew inspiration for this duet from his 2010 hit “Don’t You Want to Stay” with Kelly Clarkson. They performed the song at the 54th annual Grammy Awards and were nominated for Best Country Duo/Group Performance. Aldean hopes for the same kind of success with Underwood and “If I Didn’t Love You.”
“It’s really cool for me to get to work with people like that and sort of find my spot in the song to make my voice work with theirs and it’s been great,” he told CMT. “I mean, obviously Kelly, the song we did with her got us a Grammy nomination and just was a really big song for us, single of the year at CMA’s. Hopefully, we can replicate that with this song.”
Underwood and Aldean have an absolute banger on their hands that will get plenty of air time on the radio. She is one of the few artists that never disappoints with their songs. Two of the biggest forces in country music teaming up together is exactly what we needed heading into the weekend.
